Board Meeting Minutes

October 13, 2016

 

Present: Koberlein, Arnold, Crawford, Denton, Director Karnes

Guests: JoAn Evans, Wayne Moran, Terri Smith

 

The Library board meeting was called to order at 7:14 p.m. by President Koberlein.

The minutes of the September 8th meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer’s and librarian’s reports were presented (see attached).

Motion by Arnold, seconded by Crawford to approve and pay the bills. Motion carried.

The next Library Board Meeting will be held on November 10th at the Brownstown Branch Library.

At the Beecher City Branch Library, 46 children attended the after school crafts and they had 4 helpers.

The rope for the flag pole was replaced with a polyester rope and a new flag will soon be ordered by the Beecher City Fire Department. The current flag is not the correct size for the flagpole and it is getting frayed.

Seven adults attended the Book Club.

Cathy Arnold and Kim Ray cleaned up and decorated the garden for fall with pumpkins and mums.

The library continues to have a lot of internet issues, so Wayne Moran will be looking into what other options are available.

At the St. Elmo library, Director Kim Karnes said another barcode scanner is needed. So one will be ordered.

The Jr. Sr. Book Club would like to have another wiener roast for their next meeting.

There were 43 children attending the after school program at the library, and the snacks were provided by the book club.

The Staff meeting/ Christmas party is scheduled for December 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Elmo Library.

The awning still needs to be cleaned and several fluorescent light bulbs need to be replaced.

Election official Terri Smith is working on getting the paperwork for election of officers for the Library Board.

Terri Smith discussed the need for some educational programs to be installed on the library’s computers to help users with homework issues. Wayne Moran agreed to talk to the Effingham Library to see what they have on their computers to help users.

At the Brownstown Branch Library the awning still needs to be repaired.

And a few of the fluorescent light bulbs need to be replaced.

The Friends of the Brownstown Library stated that their benefit concert on October 8th was well attended and the fundraiser was a success.

Motion by Crawford, seconded by Arnold to adjourn at 8:20 p.m. Motion carried.
