Board Meeting Minutes

July 13, 2017


Present: Koberlein, Kamnick, Hough, Denton, Wegscheid, Crawford, Arnold

Guests: JoAn Evans, Wayne Moran, Brenda Workman, Laura Moreland, Mark Myrick, Herrin Malone, Dave Brown

Open Budget and Appropriation Meeting at 7:01 p.m., Close at 7:11 p.m.

The library board meeting was called to order at 7:12 p.m. by President Koberlein.

Representatives from United Fidelity Bank, and Dieterich Bank were available to talk about changes and questions about future banking options.

Minutes of June 8, 2017 were read and approved.

Treasurer and librarian’s reports were presented (see attached).

Motion by Wegscheid, seconded by Crawford to approve and pay the bills. Motion carried.

Librarian’s Report

At the Beecher City Library Nola is sick and off all week. Ginny Wilber broke her wrist. On July 14 Tony will install new doorknob at the Brownstown Library. Kim will be gone Friday, Saturday, Sunday,

Monday. Culbertsons fixed air conditioner at St. Elmo Library. Kim and Karen had catalog class July 12 and have another one on August 9 at Effingham. Wayne Moran said Wabash Fiber Optic has not gotten back to him about getting it at Beecher City Library. He talked about getting a hot spot box for librarian’s desk at Beecher City Library to help with their internet problems. Frontier put new modem in Beecher City Library. It didn’t help their internet problems very much.

JoAn Evans said Don got Library painted; $500 labor, $200 paint. She also needed two checks of $100 each for Altamont Home Center for bouncy house and deposit. She also got two $100 gift cards, one for boy and one for girl. Also got the flapper replaced on toilet. Beecher City Food Liner donated the pizza for the end of the summer reading party.

Summer Reading Program

Beecher City Library had 11 children. Joe’s Pizza was ordered for the St. Elmo and Brownstown last reading program pizza party.

Motion by Arnold, seconded by Kamnick to approve Westendorf Construction for new roof at a bid of $27,840. Motion carried. Motion by Denton and seconded by Crawford to order new awning for Brownstown Library at a cost of $1,320.

Certified Secretary’s Book

Motion by Crawford, seconded by Wegscheid to audit secretary’s book.

Motion by Crawford, seconded by Wegscheid to adopt Ordinance 2017-3 to levy a .02% building and maintenance tax for fiscal year July1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.

Board discussed United Fidelity Bank or Dieterich Bank. Motion by Arnold, seconded by Kamnick to stay with United Fidelity Bank. Motion carried.

Board meeting at Beecher City Library in August. September meeting will be at Brownstown Library.
